MY TRIP TO ZARIA BY BILIKISU YUSUFF MOUKHTAR PRI 6 PUPIL OF YANDUTSE PRIMARY SCHOOL, KANO.(UNEDITED.)

On Tuesday 8^th march 2011, we went to a trip to a zuniversity which is called Ahmadu Bello University (A.B.U) The founder of the university is Sir Ahmadu Bello. In the higher institution we visited the Art gallery. At first we went to the painting area which is called the Fine Art, we saw different paintings with different colours, we saw paintings like a mans portrait, some houses etc

    Also we asked many question. After that we went to the other area which is called the sculpture department whereby things were made by using clay the person which was assisting us told us that the work can be done by any kind of clay but not usually using ceramics because it can easily break. He also showed us different sculptures such as a baby playing with ball, a skull, a soldier, a woman breast feeding her baby etc.

    After this we went to the ceramics department. When we reached there they introduce us to a studio called the clay preparation studio whereby clay are stored to dry. After that we went to the other studio which is trolling studio. It is studio where both hands and machine works to mould things and where they are stored. They mould things such as cups, pots, bowls, etc. we then went to the casting studio whereby they use something like pots to mould with liquid clay while in the trolling studio they use solid clay while in the trolling studio they use solid clay, we took pictures and then went to the place where they are firing objects to become real ones. They fire objects so that they would not break easily the type of firing I know is biscuit firing whereby the ceramics changes colours.

     As soon as we finish looking at the ceramics we took a picture and we went to the textile area where they are printing like pieces of cloth. When we went a man introduced to us how the textile work are being done as follows.

     First design any decoration you like print it out and then you can print it on a paper or just like pieces of cloth. They also make things such as cushions cover carpets etc.

     At about 2:05pm we went upstairs and went to the graphics department where tittles of books and other thing are made etc In graphic you must know how to use a computer because if you want to design something you must use a computer. At about 2:30pm we took off and then came back to school at 4:45pm.
